2nite's "Storm Ride" has been cancelled due to the weather and rescheduled for next month.

OK....so here is my report on Thursday's ride.

The directions on their website stunk and I got totally lost going there in the pouring rain w/o my glasses, arrived 15 minutes late, but when I got there they hadn't started yet, whew. Needless to say, totally stressed when I got there. The place that they had it at isn't that close to where I live but I did leave myself "getting lost" time, etc.

Greeted by some friendly instructors and the bikes are actually set up in a theater-type room with a dome.

The ride was a straight-up climb (which is cool by me) and the Instructors were good (there were 4 of them). I always know a good Instructor when I am not clock-watching and the hour goes by and I say, oh, it's over. If I am clock-watching, I am BORED.

My only complaint, and it's not really a complaint, I would do another one of these again but probably not for a couple of months (at $45 a pop)...

When I went to Boston, I went to one of their museums (it was like the Science Museum or something) which has a domed IMAX theater annexed to it. Every time I go there I have to go see what's playing at the IMAX, the experience is just totally intense. I have seen IMAX in a regular theater but the dome experience just blows it away, anyway, back to the ride, I was kinda expecting an IMAX experience but it was really just mostly pictures being projected onto the dome. Not to say it wasn't cool, but when you are expecting IMAX...(and nothing should have led me to believe that is what I should have expected, just my imagination).

The sound effects were pretty good, too, it was the storm ride so rain and thunder were piped in.

The bikes were the newer "Spinners" but I couldn't find one that was "clipless." Since I was late I didn't have much options in reference to bike choice, so I don't know if clipless was an option.

Overall a good experience, I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Deb

A few of my students/friends went thursday night. I had told them that i wasnt sure if it was a coached ride so be prepared for that,etc... One didnt like it at all and the others said it was "ok". Nothing great.. I think by looking at the site, it does seem like an imax type thing even though it doesnt say that..My one friend said there were a few pictures, nothing too intense.. They are used to being coached so I think their overall reaction was because they couldnt put themselves in a zone . Maybe they were waiting for a "class" who knows.. I would still like to try it eventually but I dont think I will be running to sign up.Needless to say, I think it is a creative idea and maybe with a bunch of friends, it would be diff..

Just wondering...what do you mean by being "coached?" Just trying to get an idea of different styles of teaching.

I was definitely expecting the "dome" thing to blow me away and it didn't.

There were 4 instructors and I thought the one who finished it up and did most of the teaching was the best.

I meant they like to "take" a class. Im the only one who is an instructor.. They are my friends but they also take my class and other classes.. cant really think for themselves.
