Default Polar Heart Rate Monitor Battery

Hello!

I have had my Polar Heart Rate Monitor/Watch for a couple of years now...and the battery symbol keeps coming on. I am assuming that means I need a new battery soon...I called Sports Authority and asked if they sold them, and he told me he thought I had to send it off to Polar to have a new battery put in. Anyone know if that's true? I know we don't still have the reciept. Am i going to be SOL?

Thanks!!

Kim

I take mine to my local jeweler and he changes it while I wait. It is my understanding that if you don't send it to Polar, your warranty is voided. It also will no longer be waterproof. My watch is about 5 years old and I've never had a problem with handling the battery changes this way (but I don't use it for swimming).

If it is the watch, usually a jeweler can replace it. If it is the strap and is the type that is sealed you will have to send it back to Polar. Some of the newer more expensive styles today carry a strap that you can change the battery without sending it back. Charles

I'm in the same boat and can't for the life of me think of where my receipt is... I may just buckle down, buy a new one and make sure not to lose the new receipt.

Thanks guys! I don't use it for swimming either, so I guess I will take it to a jeweler...How long is it under warranty? I have had it over two years, so that probably ran out, right?
